Las gemelas Mary Kate y Ashley Olsen, lanzaron al mercado una nueva colección de relojes pertenecientes a su marca Elizabeth and James. Estos nos regresan a un tiempo en donde los relojes se enfocan en su función principal, indicar el tiempo.
El estilo de los relojes es minimalista, con correas unicolor y de goma, con una pantalla de espejo electrónica que indica de forma digital la hora.
La inspiración para este diseño la obtuvieron de los relojes que usaron al crecer en los años 90: “Tenemos una nostalgia compartida por los relojes digitales de nuestra juventud”, “queríamos capturar ese atractivo, pero en un diseño moderno e interesante”, dice Ashley.
Se basaron en imágenes y películas de la NASA de la década de los 70, en películas como Goldfinger y los Jetson, así como en la arquitectura de John Lautner y las obras de arte de Dan Flavin. “Desde la perspectiva de los materiales, miramos la innovación que está sucediendo en el mundo de las lentes ópticas y la incorporamos al diseño de las caras de los cristales de espejo”, agrega Ashley.

For inspiration the designers thought of the watches they wore when they grew up in the 90s: “we have a shared nostalgia for the digital watches of our youth”, “we wanted to capture that appeal but in a modern and interesting design”, says Ashley. They were based on 70s’ NASA images and films, in films such as Goldfinger and the Jetsons, as well as in the architecture of John Lautner and art work by Dan Flavin. “From a materials perspective, we looked at the innovation happening in the world of optical lenses and incorporated that into the design of the mirror crystal faces” adds Ashley.
