“Esta es una versión más oscura y más macabra de Sabrina, y estamos increíblemente emocionados de que la gente vea que Kiernan hace suya a este personaje icónico”, dijo Aguirre-Sacasa, quien además agregó: “Todos somos tan fanáticos del trabajo de Kiernan que cuando comenzamos a hablar de quién podría ser esta nueva encarnación de Sabrina, su nombre estaba en la lista de deseos de todos”.
Shipka interpretará a Sabrina Spellman, una estudiante de segundo año en Baxter High School que lucha por encontrar un equilibrio entre su mitad humana y mitad bruja mientras lucha contra “las fuerzas malvadas que la amenazan a ella, a su familia y al mundo diurno en que habitan los humanos”. La serie inicia justo al comienzo de su entrenamiento de brujería.
Aún la serie no tiene un título o fecha de lanzamiento, pero ya están confirmados 20 episodios y dos temporadas.

However, this version of the young sorceress will not be jovial and cheerful as the early 2000 comedy of Melissa Joan Hart. Instead, the program will be a “dark tale that intersects with horror, occultism and witchcraft,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Comparisons have been made with Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, which means there probably will not be talking cats.
“This is a darker and more macabre version of Sabrina, and we are incredibly excited that people see that Kiernan makes this iconic character his own,” said Aguirre-Sacasa, who also added: “We are all so fanatical about Kiernan’s work, that when we started talking about who this new incarnation of Sabrina could be, her name was on everyone’s wish list”.
Shipka will play Sabrina Spellman, a sophomore at Baxter High School who struggles to find a balance between her half human and half witch as she fights “the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daytime world in which humans inhabit”. The series starts right at the beginning of her witchcraft training.
As for now, the series does not have a title or release date yet, but 20 episodes and two seasons have already been confirmed.
