El éxodo masivo de diseñadores que están dejando la Semana de la Moda de Nueva York no está desacelerando, y ahora la CFDA ha anunciado que uno de sus más grandes diseñadores, Alexander Wang, se ha retirado. La colección otoño 2018, a presentarse en febrero, será el último show del diseñador durante el NYFW.
Dejando de lado el calendario tradicional, Wang optará por presentar sus colecciones en junio y diciembre. Bajo el nuevo formato, las colecciones presentadas en junio estarán disponibles en el mercado entre octubre y marzo, mientras que las mostradas en diciembre estarán disponibles entre abril y septiembre.
Lisa Gersh, CEO de Alexander Wang, dijo: “Nuestro cliente estará mejor atendido a través del nuevo sistema. El enfoque innovador replantea el producto en el mes en que se envía, en lugar de las etiquetas anticuadas de ‘resort’ o ‘pre-fall’, ofreciendo a nuestros clientes mercancía más relevante y consistente a lo largo del año”.
La partida de Wang sigue a una creciente lista de diseñadores que ya han salido de la Semana de la Moda de Nueva York, incluyendo a Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, Public School, Rodarte, Thom Browne y más. El calendario del NYFW de esta temporada también se perderá Tommy Hilfiger y Victoria Beckham, que se presentarán en Milán y Londres, respectivamente.

The mass exodus of designers who are leaving New York Fashion Week is not slowing, and now the CFDA has announced that one of its greatest designers, Alexander Wang, has retired. The fall 2018 collection, to be presented in February, will be the designer’s last show during NYFW.
Leaving aside the traditional calendar, Wang will choose to present its collections in June and December. Under the new format, the collections presented in June will be available in the market between October and March, while those shown in December will be available between April and September.
Lisa Gersh, CEO of Alexander Wang, said: ” Our customer will be better served through the new system. The innovative approach reframes product on the month that it ships, rather than the outdated labels of ‘resort’ or ‘pre-fall,’ giving our customers more relevant and consistent merchandise throughout the year”.
Wang’s departure follows a growing list of designers who have already left New York Fashion Week, including Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, Public School, Rodarte, Thom Browne and more. The NYFW calendar for this season will also miss Tommy Hilfiger and Victoria Beckham, who will perform in Milan and London, respectively.
